2022 DIGITAL JOURNALING WITH WRITUAL PLANNER

Cancer Season was and always has been an intense shadow work season for me and that usually means more time spent reflecting and journaling. I usually turn to art (@whimsicalwinters) when this happens as a way for me to express emotions I have not successfully processed yet and so when I got my 2022 Writual Tarot Journal (Digital), I knew that I’ll be using it for my creative journey.

I've been using physical journals for a decade and has only started digital journaling when I finally bought an iPad back in 2012-ish (?). Back then I only use apps like Paper, To-Do, Notability to write down my stuff. Short story is I was not entirely having fun with it. The game changed when Apple launched the Apple Pencil in 2015 because now I can write and doodle or sketch.

I started the digital journaling life late because I stumbled upon Study to Success' YT channel and got introduced with GoodNotes. Even with all these resources, I still wasn't committed to it because life gets busier and busier.

Here are the top reasons why I couldn't commit to it or admittedly lose my interest:

1. There's a significant sensation from physical journals that I like - the texture of paper and the friction of my pen to paper

2. Physical journals doesn't have batteries

3. no time

I think there's a sweet spot we have to find with digital planner and here's how I managed to turn things around.

1. To replicate the physical journal sensation, I purchased a paperlike texture screen protector and the experience is wild - like really writing / doodling on a piece of paper.

2. Because the pandemic has changed 99% of my life and has been the reason for my loving my hermit life more, I don't have to worry about running out of iPad battery.

3. Because I've been using my iPad like an extension of my arm, I can just easily switch from Procreate to GoodNotes when I have aha moments.

WHAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT:

I would like to see more space for personal notes, personal goals, ritual notes on the weekly spreads. Doing a daily 3 card spread only can be tiring.
